Mary Schierman (Dosch)

Schierman Mary (Dosch) Schierman, age 63, died Sunday, June 19, after a 10-month struggle with mesothelioma (asbestos caused cancer). Born February 6, 1942, to John and Georgiena Dosch in Minneapolis, Mary graduated from Roosevelt High School (60). After retiring in 2004 from a 39-year career as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines, she and her husband Wesley moved to their lake home near Pelican Rapids, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with family and friends in May. Mary loved to garden, read, and seek new ideas. She established a monthly newsletter for fellow flight attendants, which continues to be published. Perhaps her greatest gift to others was her love, attentiveness, and welcoming "Mary hug." She maintained her unique wit and sense of humor throughout her illness. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Therese Marie Dosch; and brother, Jack Dosch. Survived by husband Wes; daughter, Gail (Jeff) Drees; stepsons, John Schierman and Joel (Dori) Schierman; grandsons, Nate and Jim Drees, granddaughters, Cortnie, Samantha and Megan Schierman, and Amy Stransky; brothers, Jim (Ann) Dosch and Tom (Phyllis) Dosch; sisters, Winnie (Al) Baumer, Georgiena Norene, Lynn Dosch & Don Bartolerio; foster brothers David (Jerry) Knapp, Henry Kessler and Bill Hood; first husband Robert Olson, in-laws Verna (Jerry) Johnson, Al (Becky) Schierman, Warren Schierman & Lynn Becker; a special "daughter" befriended by Mary & Wes, Dorothy Sherrill is among many other friends and relatives who mourn the loss of Mary. A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, 24876 Franklin Lake Road, Pelican Rapids, MN 56572 (www. ziononfranklinlake.org). In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Red River Hospice, MeritCare Hospital's Palliative Care Unit, Zion Lutheran Church, P.R. Public Library, PRHS Class of '58 Scholarship Fund, or charitable organizations of choice.

How sad I am to find out we had lost Mary. I knew her in Jr Hi and of course Roosevelt. We were in scouts together. She was a happy gal and I know her family lmust miss her.
