Reunion book Bio (300 word limit)
After hi sch graduation, I worked at the Red Dot Potato Chip Co. Randy Swanson also worked there.
I didn't want to do this for very long, so I went to Mpls Voc Tech College to go to "beauty school".
The class was full so they asked me and my friend Theresa Haugh if we would apply to enter the Food Service/Hotel and Restaurant cooking class. We said "Why Not"? as we were there to meet the guys anyway.
In January a few guys transferred over from Dunwoody. One of them was the man I fell in love with and married on Aug. 24 1963. Mr. Dieter Lang.
Friend Theresa said, don't go out with him, he's from Germany !! That didn't matter to me and we fell in love. We were married for 43 years. He couldn't have children so we adopted three children through Lutheran Social Services.
My husband passed away in his sleep Dec 4, 2006. He was a wonderful man, a chef at the Radisson and Holiday Inn.
Our children are now 46, 44 and 41. I'm blessed with five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Most of my jobs were running the food service at the sorority houses at the U of M. Summers we worked at the Children's camps. Four yrs at the Luther Park in Danbury WI, four yrs at the Jewish camp; Camp Thunderbird, and four yrs at the Boy Scout camp; Camp Tomahawk.
Life has been good.
