Gerald L. DeKeuster

While I was in the service I didn't miss a Christmas at home with family. I was sent to Korea and had a chance to see the Orient.I have several paintings and furniture from there that I have in my home today.
I returned to Mpls temporarly as I was going to return to Seattle. Started in the Probation Dept. Domestic Relations in '69. Then was hired at the Ramsey County Attorney's Office-Criminal Division where I investigated cases of Welfare Fraud. I retired in 2004 just short of 36 yrs.

I remember our senior train ride and dancing like crazy fools. We attended the breakfast as a class. I left walking in the rain to catch the bus for home. While riding home it really hit me that this would be the last time that I would see some or maybe all of my class mates. I would be heading to college in Olympia,Wa. I felt at this point in my life is where I grew up. I was sad but optimistic as to what was waiting for me. I started out as a history major but became a social worker.

I had been teaching cake decorating at Maid and Michael's while living in Mn. Now I'm teaching at Hobby Lobby here in Abq. I belong to a professional cake decorating org. known as ICES and I'm on their board. We have ovrer 4,000 members. I'm on the board of our Condo. I belong to Civitan and volunteer my services. I had a great time touching base with class mates at the reunion but I want to give a big thanks to this web site as I have been in touch with several members who couldn't be at reunion. Thank you for a job well done!
