Minneapolis Roosevelt High School
Class Of 1960
ANNOUNCEMENTS

Roosevelt's 100 Year Celbration is over

The Roosevelt Foundation has a website, click on http://roosevelthighfoundation.org/  .

The purpose of the Minneapolis Theodore Roosevelt High School Foundation is to help Roosevelt students.

Besides donations, they have two fund raisers with a fall Golf Tournament & a spring Pancake Breakfast.

The foundation also administers the Roosevelt Hall of Fame for classes of all years.  A HOF Banquet is held every two years honoring the accomplishments of a new class of RHS alumni. The 2022 banquet was November 5th at Roosevelt High School.

Our RHS class of 1960 did not have a member in the RHS HOF.  That changed as Dr. Patrick Lilja was inducted November 5th, 2022.  Pat has been associated with North Memorial Hospital for over 40 years since graduating from the University of Minnesota Medical School.  Pat was involved in the early years of EMS, emergency medical services, in Minnesota at North Memorial Hospital.  North Memorial has renamed their emergency training center in Brooklyn Park to the "G. Patrick Lilja EMS Training Center".  And they have named Pat, "The Father Of Emergency Medicine in Minnesota".

Our 2023 Luncheon Date

Was Wednesday, September 6th, 2023

The Lost Spur Golf Course event center in Egan has been reserved forSeptember 4th, 2024.  The doors will open at the same time of 11:00AM with the same very nice buffet lunch at 12:00 noon.  Plan to attend & enjoy a  buffet lunch with your classmates.  Call up your 1960 classmates you are still in touch with & ask them meet you at the Lost Spur. Meanwhile, take care of yourself until then.

We hope the $25 cost per person can remain the same.  Our luncheon comittee will meet with the Lost Spur in the spring to firm up the details.  It will be a pre-pay lunch.  Payment details will be sent later.

Plan to attend in 2024. If you have any questions or would like to help out on our committee, please call our luncheon chair, Lou (Louella) Reich Schany, 612-991-0683 or schandosy@aol.com.

Our 2022 LUNCHEON WAS A SUCCESS

Our 2022 luncheon at the Lost Spur Golf Course in Egan was once again a success with 52 in attendance.  This number is the most we have had beating the previous high of 51.  It was good to see everyone smiling & talking before they were seated.

Two "Memory Boards" were set up in front with all the names of our classmates who have passed away with their class photo & obituary (if known).  Mike Harrison updates the "In Memory" part of our RHS 1960 alumni web page & Barb Phillips Nordstrom updates the two luncheon memory boards for display.

John Ramberg also brought over 100 photos from previous reunions & luncheons for viewing.  John said anyone could take their pictures home.

Ross Nelson of Nelson's Apple Farm in Webster, Mn (just south of Lakeville) handed out a just picked Sweet Tango apple to all in attendance.

ALL SCHOOL SPRING PANCAKE BREAKFAST WAS SUNDAY APRIL 16, 2023

This annual event was held at Roosevelt from 8 AM to noon. Breakfast was $8 for adults, $5 kids 10 & under. Many prizes were raffled hourly. This is a great chance to meet fellow classmates and help support the school.

How will your your $8 be used?

The Spring Pancake Breakast is one of the two fundraisers the Roosevelt Foundation uses to raise funds for Roosevelt Students.  Please scroll down to The Roosevelt Foundation for more information or click on their web site http://roosevelthighfoundation.org/.
